Fraud and Abuse Reporting
AxoCareers takes fraud, abuse, and platform integrity seriously. This page explains how to recognize and report fraudulent or abusive conduct, what we investigate, and what to do if you believe you have been targeted by a scam.
Common Signs of Fraudulent Job Postings
- Upfront fees: Legitimate employers do not ask candidates to pay fees, buy equipment, purchase training materials, or submit a deposit as part of the hiring process.
- Requests for sensitive financial information: Legitimate employers do not request your bank account number, routing number, cryptocurrency wallet, Social Security number, passport number, or other sensitive financial data before making a conditional offer of employment.
- Gift card requests: No legitimate employer will ask you to purchase or send gift cards as part of an application, onboarding, or training process.
- Too-good-to-be-true compensation: Offers of unusually high pay for minimal qualifications, vague job duties, or "work from home" roles with compensation far above market rates may indicate a fraudulent listing.
- Pressure to act immediately: High-pressure tactics demanding urgent decisions, immediate wire transfers, or same-day "onboarding" without a formal interview process are common fraud signals.
- Impersonation: A posting or recruiter claiming to represent a well-known employer using a non-corporate email domain (e.g., @gmail.com) or mismatched contact information may be impersonating a legitimate company.
- Broken or suspicious links: External application links that redirect to unrelated sites, fail to load, or direct to phishing pages are a warning sign.
What to Do If You Suspect Fraud
- Do not send money, gift cards, or financial information. Once sent, these are rarely recoverable.
- Do not open attachments or click links from unknown senders claiming to be employers.
- Report the listing on AxoCareers using the flag/report button on the job posting page.
- Contact us directly via the Contact page.
- Report to authorities: If you believe you have been the victim of an employment scam, consider reporting it to:
- The FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov
- The FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center at IC3.gov
- Your state attorney general's office

Limitations of Our Verification
AxoCareers does not pre-screen all job listings before publication and does not verify the identity of all employers. We rely on automated signals, community reports, and human review. Despite these efforts, fraudulent postings may appear on the platform. We encourage all users to exercise caution, research employers independently, and report suspicious content promptly.
